In the second volume of Lewis’ space trilogy Dr. Ransom goes to Venus (”Perelandra”) to prevent its fall. His description of the planet is captivating, but it is in Ransom’s confrontation with evil that makes this a chillingly memorable work. This is strong stuff, and deep.
