Capt. Charles Edgemont returns to cruise the Med, occasionally accompanied by his Quaker wife. In due course he secretly wins the Battle of the Nile. The strength of this series remains the relationships between the characters. On the negative side the naval actions lack variety and the characters’ snappy dialog sometimes sounds jarringly modern. Despite that, it’s a good read and adventure if not great historical fiction. Jack Aubrey has a guest walk-on part.
