From The Heart Of The Storm

Kurt R.A. Giambastiani

Here’s another entry in the dinosaur-riding Indian series;  it follows “From the Heart of the Storm“.  This one is a little weak compared to the previous volumes.  Giambastiani seems to be setting up situations for the next book without paying enough attention to the plot in this book.

My big complaint about this one is that tormented young Custer (President George Custers’s son, who fills the Dances With Dinosaurs role in the series) leaves his Indian life and winds up as a drunken sot in a frontier village.  This is far too similar to an incident in Thomas Berger’s classic “Little Big Man“.
